Good vs. evil
Posted in Life on 12/21/2007 12:05 pm by KatieTwo days ago, as I walked from work to my car, which wasn’t terribly far, a nice older lady stopped in the street next to me and asked me if she could give me a ride anywhere because it was cold and slightly wet outside. I thanked her and told her I was only a block or so away from my car and she went on her merry way. Yesterday was bitterly cold and disgustingly rainy (my jeans were soaked to my knees), and as I walked from work to my car, I started to cross the street when a truck turned out of a nearby parking lot towards me. I had to stop walking or he would have hit me as he sped past, not slowing when he saw me in the street. I stopped so fast that I dropped my keys in the street and had to pick them up out of a puddle with my mittens.
I wonder why the people who are nice to you only offer help when you don’t need it. Why is it that you’re already drenched to the knees, freezing cold and miserable when the karma/random chance/cyclical energy/whatever kicks in and the truck driver speeds by you dangerously? Why is it that when you’re perfectly content and bopping along, people want to help you?
Just something to think about.
