Belated photo adventure
Posted in Family, Life, School on 12/10/2007 04:27 am by KatieNow that I’ve found a photo gallery plugin that I like, I can post the pictures I took during my trip to the University of Wisconsin in Madison, with my cousin Jared. He looked at the campus as an option for his PhD.
It’s a beautiful campus, and I’m sort of jealous…I wish I’d gone to a big school when I decided to return to college. Though, I guess with the grades I had from FSU and Harper, I probably wouldn’t have been accepted into a place like UW-Madison. Either way, though, I miss the big campus feeling. And I’d grown so accustomed to Normal that I forgot what a big college is like. I mean, hell, they actually have restaurants within walking distance. More restaurants than I could count on one hand, for that matter.
Ah, well, too late now. Also, a lot of these pictures are fuzzy; for that, I apologize. Incidentally, I also have much higher-res pictures of these, so if you’d like to get any of them, just comment or email me or something. Na, UW Madi is very overrated these days. The poli-sci department still think Game Theory has a practical use aside from being an elaborate practical joke designed to force philosophy majors and political economists into making utter idiots of themselves in public.
It’s very much a party school and you can’t really be the nation’s number one party school and STILL be academically challenging. The Law school is really good – but the drama and education departments are hit or miss. Don’t even look at their art dept. You probably got more valuable experience going the rout you did than if you had been accepted into UW and spent four years alongside drunk Iowa farm boys. They weren’t even cute.
Very nice campus though. Although, with their tuition you kinda expect that.
